On my horror movie quest I came across The Wicker Man. I had no clue what this one was about, but I love 70s movies and Christopher Lee. Basically, this is the best folk-horror-musical I’ve ever seen.
The Wicker Man is about an island of pagans just trying to have a good time, and a very religious Christian detective who shows up to solve a missing persons case. The entire film is full of charming songs, nudity and religious debates. While I was watching the movie, I really didn’t get how it was a horror film, even at the end. The twist at the end was really interesting though. It was very fun to watch and it definitely has it’s cult classic status for a reason. Despite how fun of a movie it felt, I had some of the most disturbing nightmares I have ever experienced the night that I watched it. So I guess it really is a frightening movie, whether you experience fear during watching it or afterwards.
I’d say definitely watch it if you love horror films..especially since it’s also a musical.
